So there is that old public road that is surrounded by quarry now, and it leads to a caged observation deck. I say it is nice to visit once in a life time for anyone who wonders about scale of anthropogenic activity.
Man super cool. Whis there was more look out around the whole thing. So awesome
I was only there for a little while today, but hope to go back and have a tour. I’m curious about how cement is made.
Such a beautiful place! I wish the fence wasn't a cage so we could take better pictures.... but still stunning to see in person
This place is absolutely amazing. Who would have guessed we had something like this in fort Wayne. It's a really cool place to take your kids or anybody from out of town. Haven't had a chance to yet but would love to be there when they actually do a detonation
You would not think a rock quarry woul make an interesting stop. It does. This huge hole is a working facility and we spent about 15-20 min just watching. I only with they had some "this is what you are looking at" signs up. If you are in the area I'd stop by.
There’s not much to do at the observation deck. I had never seen a quarry that close up before so it was nice to get to see that but that was about it. It was really empty there too so we weren’t sure if we should stay long there.
It's a bit off the beaten path, but if you're in the area and willing to take a 10-15 minute detour to get here, I'd recommend it. There's no cost, but be aware that the observation deck closes at sundown.
As a parent, it's a unique place to take the kids to show them the huge machines that work in the quarry. To be frank, the scale is really pretty crazy. Trucks that have tires that are as big as my car, look absolutely minuscule when they're in the middle of the quarry.
Just a unique place to check out for a few minutes, I still remember coming here with my Dad and watching the big trucks move, and happy that I can still take my kids here.
